ICT and Learning

ICT Learning

There is no doubt that ICT offers great possibilities for learning and management within schools. The challenge for our College is to ensure that we have the infrastructure, the regulatory environment and the capabilities to effectively harness the potential of ICT. In most parts the College’s current strategic plan addresses these issues.

The focus of the College communication and multimedia strategy is to realise the potential of technology to enhance the quality of all aspects of education, especially student learning. To compete and be successful in an information rich, technologically-enhanced and rapidly changing environment, students will need to be highly skilled and flexible in their ability to use technology in all its forms. For these reasons the use of learning technologies is central, both to the delivery of the curriculum and to school administration and management

The successful development of technology will allow students to experience a range of learning styles and access electronic communication to expand their horizons and opportunities. This of course is based on the premise that teachers will develop teaching and learning strategies and curriculum plans that fully utilise appropriate technologies.

The College is focussing on several strategies to meet these objectives. On the whole we aim to:

Improving access to computers, a range of applications and curriculum products and on-line information and communications as a routine part of the school’s educational and operational program.

Develop regular, competent and discriminating users of learning technologies in the daily activities and programs of the school.

Develop skills in the use of a range of technology tools.

Show leadership and innovation in the use of learning technologies.
