Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care of students is a priority for all staff and there are a number of levels at which it operates within the College.

The first and most fundamental level is expressed in the quality of the relationships between boys and staff and between boys. Our aim here is to ensure, as far as possible,  these relationships are based on Christian values. Of particular importance are attitudes of mutual respect, care and forgiveness. In monitoring relationships significant roles are played by Tutors, House Coordinators, and the College Executive.

Addressing significant issues related to the boys general welfare is a second level of Pastoral Care. Some of these are dealt with through the formal curriculum in areas such as Religious Education and PDHPE. House Coordinators also manage these at various times during the year. RE Days and the Retreat programs also help to address significant issues.

Specialist Support is also available at the College.

Two Counsellors are available: Ms Dawn Russell and Br Michael Hill.  Boys can access the Counsellors directly or through their respective House Coordinators.

The Careers Adviser, Mrs Nicola Brown, is available to assist students clarify their post school career and employment interests.

Some students need even more support than is available at the College. In these cases close contact is maintained with families and referrals to external support agencies are made. In recent years some of these have included: NSW Health, Centacare, Marist Youth Care, the Berne Educational Centre, Champagnat House.
