Army Cadets Unit

Army Cadets Unit206th Army Cadet Unit is a volunteer organisation for males and females between the ages of 12 and 18 from anywhere in the local community. At 206 ACU cadets are taught a variety of skills including first aid, navigation, weapons handling and usage, roping, drill, abseiling, bush skills, survival skills, small craft handling (inflatable assault boats). 206 ACU is run by the cadets for the cadets with the majority of training run by the NCOs & SNCOs. Cadets are supervised by Officers & Instructors of Cadets who usually have military background.

Cadets also learn leadership skills, responsibility, get to meet new friends, participate in overnight exercises and camps with cadets and with the Australian Army, complete promotion courses and get promoted, improve fitness, participate in ceremonial parades eg. marching with the "Rats" of Tobruk on ANZAC day, complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, and fire military weapons.

The Australian Services Cadet Scheme is a training and development organisation for Australian youth. Its purpose is to provide a unique opportunity to experience aspects of life within the Australian Defence Force by participating in activities undertaken within a military framework and to provide progressive, interesting and challenging training intended to encourage the development of positive personal and team characteristics.

Basic aims of the Cadet Services

 1. To develop in cadets a sense of self reliance and self discipline, so that they may develop a pride in themselves, their school and their unit.
2. To develop leadership qualities.
3. To develop a sense of citizenship and patriotism towards their school, community and country.
4. To interest cadets in the role of the Defence Forces in Australia
