Performing Arts
ANNUAL MUSICAL
Each year the College produces a Musical.
Recent musicals have been as diverse as "Positions Vacant " a very contemporary musical, to the classical "Oliver!".
Auditions are held at the beginning of the school year with rehearsals during Term One and Term Two culminating with the show at the end of Term Two.
There are four performances - a matinee for visiting primary schools and three evening performamnces. Tickets go on sale at the beginning of Term Two.
DRAMA
Over recent years Drama has become an increasingly significant part of College life. Drama is offered as a subject in Years 9, 10, 11 and 12.
A syllabus requirement is that Drama students view and perform in a range of dramatic productions. These excursions and performances are organised at class level and occur throughout the school year.
Recently commenced at the College is a program in Drama Tuition taught by an experienced and respected Drama Teacher.
MUSIC
Music is a compulsory subject for all students in Years 7 and 8, is offered as an elective in Years 9 and 10 and as a HSC course in Years 11 and 12.
Music Tuition
Available through the College, and covers a range of instruments: piano, guitar, violin, drums, trumpet, saxophone are the more popular ones, but it is also offered for other instruments. The Creative Arts Coordinator,
Miss Carolyn O'Brien, oversees this program.
Performance opportunities are available through the College Bands. Mr Rod Herbert leads rehearsals and performances for the Senior Concert Band, The Intermediate Concert band, the Junior Concert Band, the String Ensemble, the Jazz band. The College Bands tour periodically and compete in various competitions and Eisteddfods.
