As part of the Senior Curriculum all Year 12 students participated in an RE Excursion on 3 May to three different venues depending on their area of study. The 2 Unit Studies of Religion students went to Nan Tien Temple south of Wollongong, to further their understanding of Buddhism, and the 1 Unit SOR students went to the Central Synagogue Bondi Junction to hear from an Hassidic Rabbi on the topics of Synagogue worship, Marriage and Hassidism. A highlight of this excursion was a role play involving the students in a Jewish Marriage ceremony (see the accompanying photo). The Catholic Studies students are studying what “Being Catholic” means and went to the Mary MacKillop Museum here in North Sydney for a tour of the Museum and a short pilgrimage experience on working for justice as part of the life of a Christian, reflecting on the work of Mary MacKillop. This pilgrimage ended with prayer at the tomb of Mary MacKillop. We thank the Yr !2 RE teachers for their professional and engaging accompaniment of the students on these excursions.
